2018 Update #12

Parking Alert: GMP To Set New Utility Pole on Merchants Row Thursday, April 12

A quick heads up that on Thursday, April 12, Green Mountain Power plans to set a new utility pole in place on Merchants Row. The new pole will be located outside Bourdon Insurance several feet to the left of the current pole, which is shown in the photograph below.

GMP will cone off several parking spaces on Merchants Row during installation, which is expected to take a few hours. The work is weather-dependent and will be rescheduled if Thursday is rainy, as is currently forecast. If that’s the case, I’ll be in touch on a rescheduled date.

The new utility pole will become operational later this year when the old pole is removed in order to facilitate construction of the tunnel that will replace the Merchants Row and Main Street bridges.

As was the case during last summer’s temporary bridges construction, I will be alerting you to parking and travel impacts throughout the year as I learn about them.

That’s all for today. See you downtown.

Please keep your comments and questions coming. Send me an email at jgish@townofmiddlebury.org and I’ll try to cover it in my next update.
